| 1. The Beginning (2 of 3) |

Now that I had no choice but to make a short
film, the first thing I did was to talk to
my fiance, Maura Wixey. She has known about
my filmmaking history, and that I had given
up on it, but has never seen me directing
on the set. Maura was really supportive of
the idea, and suggested that I should decide
whether to direct or not after the script
was finished.
Meanwhile, I decided to also look around for a good cameraman. In my past two films, I was fortunate enough to have
well experienced cinematographer that gave me a lot of pointers. Domenick was willing to fly all the way to Japan, but do I know any cameraman that's
willing to fly out here without any pay? Suddenly, I thought about my fashion photographer friend, Moha.
He came to Japan a year ago and fell in love with people's fashion. I had helped him go to various clubs so he can see the latest underground fashion in Tokyo.

それから、約１ヶ月ほど経った頃、脚本（初稿）が仕上がったと彼から言われた。確かその前日は体調が悪かったはずだ。出来たての脚本を受け取り、ざっと目を通してみた。当然ながら、全て英語だ。撮影の尺を考慮した上での10ページの脚本。自宅に持ち帰り、再度じっくり読んでみる。再度、再度、と計５回くらい読んだ。そして、この作品をぜひ成功させてほしいと思い、翌日には自分なりの感想を彼に伝えた。
かくして、少しだけ、陰ながら彼をヘルプしようと思っていたのが、ちゃっかりスタッフの１人にされていた。映画・・・自主制作のショートフィルムといっても、私が携わってきた商業演劇のジャンルとは全く違う。多少の不安感もあったが、通ずるものもあるはずだ、と思いを新たにした。どうやら彼は主役の俳優はすでに決めているようだった。
その後、英語と、シーンによっては使われる日本語のセリフを何度も校正した。
彼いわく「今回は初めての挑戦になることが多い」。
